One of our new S.T.E.M. and Go Green initiatives is a monthly family challenge.  At the beginning of every month, students receive a task where they are to reuse regular household items that would normally go in the trash and engineer them into a different item.   This is a voluntary home project that we hope will promote families to think like Scientists, Technologists, Engineers, and Mathematicians and have fun learning together. For the month of October, students were challenged with transforming an empty cardboard roll into an item of their choice – as long as it had a purpose or function. The October challenge projects are currently on display in the library, and the November challenge is underway.
