21st Century Community Learning Center News

21st-Century-AllStars

Cooke S.T.E.M. Academy is proud to be a newly selected 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) for DPSCD.  The 21st CCLC program is an application based after-school academic and enrichment program for 5th – 8th-grade students.  During the school year, students receive homework assistance, academic instruction and participate in STEM courses and enrichment programs.  This year students will participate in Cooking with Math & Science, Product Design, Team Sports, and Photography.  They will also participate in the NBA Math Hoops board game which could result in students competing on a national level.  The program promotes leadership by sponsoring a Youth Advisory Council (YAC) where students campaign to be representatives for their peers and ensure their voices are heard.  Students will also sponsor school-wide community service projects and may attend educational field trips.  If you are interested in learning more about the program contact the school at (313) 866-9751.
